3D Film Concept

A 3D or 3-D (three-dimensional) film or S3D (stereoscopic 3D) film is a motion picture that enhances the illusion of depth perception. Derived from stereoscopic photography, a regular motion picture camera system is used to record the images as seen from two perspectives (or computer-generated imagery generates the two perspectives in post-production), and special projection hardware and/or eyewear are used to provide the illusion of depth when viewing the film. 3D films are not limited to feature film theatrical releases; television broadcasts and direct-to-video films have also incorporated similar methods, especially since 3D television and Blu-ray 3D.

3D films have existed in some form since 1915, but had been largely relegated to a niche in the motion picture industry because of the costly hardware and processes required to produce and display a 3D film, and the lack of a standardized format for all segments of the entertainment business. Nonetheless, 3D films were prominently featured in the 1950s in American cinema, and later experienced a worldwide resurgence in the 1980s and 1990s driven by IMAX high-end theaters and Disney themed-venues.

AIBO ANIMALOID ROBOT

Aibo (Artificial Intelligence Robot) robot berbentuk anjing ini berukuran 180 (lebar) x 278 (tinggi) dan 319 (panjang) mm, beratnya 1,65 kg (termasuk baterai dan kartu memorinya). Robot yang tidak kalah terkenalnya dengan ASIMO ini buatan perusahaan SONY. Berbeda dengan ASIMO maupun robot-robot pada umumnya, Aibo mempunyai kemampuan melakukan gerak dan reaksi dari dirinya sendiri. Dengan adanya kemampuan ini, AIBO seolah-olah memiliki insting dan kemauan seperti layaknya seekor anjing. Apabila ‘merasa’ tidak senang, ia bisa ngambek, tidak mau mematuhi perintah si pemilik atau operatornya (orang yang memainkannya), repot juga ya kalo si robot anjing ini jadi ngambek!!!!.

Menurut pengakuan Bapak Fauzi dari SONY Center Jakarta, pemilik harus tetap dapat menjaga ‘perasaan’ AIBO karena anjing buatan ini bisa juga sedih bahkan marah, terlihat dari lampu indikator pengganti mata. Kalau telah melakukan sebuah perintah dengan baik, dia harus dipuji (dengan cara mengelus-elus kepala atau badannya seperti anjing betulan) supaya ia tahu apa yang dilakukannya sudah betul. (Kadang ia akan membalas dengan menggoyangkan buntutnya!).

Pada umumnya AIBO yang dijual di pasaran adalah AIBO yang ‘dewasa’ dan sudah ‘pintar’, sehingga tidak perlu diajari lagi. Kita hanya perlu meng-input suara kita sebagai set-up awal untuk mengenali suara pemiliknya. Lalu, bagaimana kalau pemiliknya satu keluarga? Tenang saja, AIBO ini memiliki kapasitas memori yang cukup sehingga suara sekeluarga, bisa di-input dan dikenali oleh AIBO.

Robot Asimo Baru Buatan Honda, Mampu Bergerak Seperti Manusia

ROBOT HONDA: Robot buatan Honda Motor bernama Asimo sedang memamerkan kemampuannya bergerak seperti layaknya manusia di markas Honda Tokyo, Minggu (5/2).Pabrikan mobil dan motor Jepang, Honda Motor, memperkenalkan robot buatannya, Asimo, yang telah mengalami penyempurnaan, di Tokyo, Minggu.Robot Asimo baru ini diklaim Honda bisa bergerak seperti gerakan manusia dan bisa berlari dengan kecepatan 6 km per jam.Honda memperkenalkan Asimo baru itu di hadapan khalayak di halaman kantor pusatnya di Tokyo.Asimo baru ini memiliki tinggi 1,3 meter dan berat 54 kg.Rencananya Asimo akan melakukan debutnya sebagai pelayan di kantor dengan membantu membawakan minuman bagi para tamu. Namun belum dijelaskan mulai kapan Asimo itu akan ditugaskan di kantor.

Sony Smartwacth Preview

Perangkat aksesoris seperti Sony Smartwatch memang bukan yang pertama kali bagi Sony Mobile untuk ponsel Android. Sebelumnya Sony yang saat itu masih bersama dengan Ericsson mengembangkan sebuah jam tangan yang dapat di hubungkan dengan ponsel Android bernama LiveView. Smartwatch tak hanya berfungsi sebagai penunjuk waktu namun lebih dari itu seperti menampilkan notifikasi telepon dan melakukan kontrol sederhana. Tak ketinggalan pula notifikasi dari twitter dan update facebook, serta kontrol musik dan panggilan tak terjawab juga disematkan pada Sony Smartwatch. 

Sony Smartwatch menggunakan baterai non-removable yang artinya tidak dapat dilepas, jadi untuk mengisi ulang tinggal menancapkan kabel USB ke port yang telah disediakan. Port tersebut ditutup oleh klip pegas dan menggunakan konektor proprietary. Sejujurnya kami lebih suka jika menggunakan micro-USB sehingga kita hanya membutuhkan satu kabel untuk mengisi ulang ponsel dan jam ini.


Sangat disayangkan bila konektor tersebut tidak kedap air, jadi kita harus cukup waspada bila menggunakannya ditempat yang banyak mengandung air misalnya saat hujan. Kalau bosan dengan warna karet jam ini kita dapat menggantinya dengan warna lain seperti putih, pink, abu-abu, hijau dan biru tersedia dalam paket terpisah yang dapat ditebus seharga $19,5 SGR atau setara dengan 141.000 rupiah.

BAE Systems' NAVSOP does positioning without GPS, makes sure the only jammin' going on is yours

Just in case GPS and GLONASS didn't make for enough of an acronym soup, BAE Systems wants to add one more to the navigation broth. NAVSOP (Navigation via Signals of Opportunity) uses some of the basic concepts we know from cell tower triangulation and WiFi location-finding to lock down a position, but goes much further to geolocate from nearly anything that pushes out a signal, such as nearby radios and TVs. It doesn't even need to know what kind of signal it's looking at, and it can get its position in places there's no GPS to work from, whether it's in an urban canyon or the natural kind. BAE is most excited about the prospects of ending GPS jamming against soldiers and UAVs, once and for all: not only is the new technology mostly impervious to attempts to block its signal, it can use the jamming attempt itself to get the position fix. Thankfully, the company's roots in defense aren't precluding use for civilians, so there's a chance that future smartphones might never have to use guesswork to get their bearings -- provided that governments around the world sign off on the idea, that is.

Hands-on with Microsoft Surface for Windows RT, Touch Cover and Type Cover

We're here live at Microsoft's press event in Los Angeles, where it just unveiled not just the rumored tablet you were hoping for, but two tablets: Surface for Windows RT, which has an NVIDIA chip inside, and Surface for Windows 8 Pro, which runs off Ultrabook-grade Ivy Bridge processors. (Yes, Surface here is the name of a tablet line, not software optimized for large touchscreens. Get that out of your system now.) Though the two differ slightly in dimensions, with the Pro model measuring in slightly thicker, both have a slim kickstand, about as thick as a credit card, that folds out of the backside like the tail of a photo frame. Both are made of magnesium and, perhaps most importantly, work with either oftwo magnetic covers that double as keyboards (one with multitouch input, and one with physical, three-dimensional keys).

No word on pricing -- just that Surface for Windows RT will cost about what you'll end up paying for other Windows RT tablets, and that the Pro version will fetch similar prices as Ultrabooks.
